Commitment to Joy: Paul Brewer

“What a wonderful introduction!  Thank you so much!  Of all the intros I’ve had, that’s the most recent…It’s nice to see you are back to wearing men’s clothing again.” – Paul Brewer Leave it to Paul Brewer to fill a room with a laugh a minute, or more like every 5 seconds, when he takes the stage at the corporate event, a life celebration, or giving young people at a school the most memorable assembly they’ve ever seen. Growing up in Utah the two best places to go as a kid were the famous Lagoon Amusement Park (still around and doing better than ever) and The 49th Street Galleria (long gone for fun and instead now an education facility…which may be fun for someone, but not me).  Lagoon was summer fun, 49th Street Galleria was winter indoors adventure.  For years, the resident Magician was Paul Brewer.  In fact, he came to my school and did an awesome assembly, and my wife even claims he did a birthday party for her in her youth.  Paul has done more shows than David Copperfield, Lance Burton, and Siegfried & Roy combined, AND his bunnies don’t attack him.  He is the anti-David Blaine or Criss

Weighing The Scales

Since I married the woman of my dreams over a decade ago my life has been wonderful.  The only thing I can think of that hasn’t been ideal has been my out of control weight issues.  As I fluctuate between 190 and 220, I have been paranoid about this problem, not so much health-wise, since I always test out as very healthy, but since I am sort of in the public eye it makes things interesting, to say the least.   At the beginning of our marriage in 2001, when I was impersonating Ricky Martin for the Las Vegas Legends In Concert, I was told I needed to get down to 170.  I starved myself trying to get down, worked out 3 hours per day, including performing twice a day.  I did anything I could, to the detriment of my health, to “look the part” on stage, since that was my job.  I eventually got down to a very unhealthy 180 and felt (and looked) gaunt and sickly.  If you’ve followed my career you know I left that company and haven’t been back, for more reasons than just that, but that is showbiz for you.

NEW YEAR DECISIONS – the BIG one

Happy New Year!  2011 changed my life.   I changed my life in 2011.  It was because of the BIG one, that BIG decision I made – Change Your Life. SOOOOOooooo many Blogs, Tweets, Facebook Posts, and YouTube videos talking about New Years Resolutions right now I decided to go against the grain and call it something else. NEW YEAR DECISIONS!  Very Creative… I Know!  I assume you think, “Well hey man, it’s already January 4th, it’s too late now!”  Guess what?  Setting a goal never had a timeline, just accomplishing your goal does!  So don’t tell me it’s too late.  It’s never been a better time to sit down, all by your lonesome, put pen to paper, and chop out some goals, resolutions, or as I like to call them DECISIONS.  Each year I open my Journal (which I keep a very regular journal, if not once a week where I write 10 pages at a time, it’s multiple times a week – I encourage this type of behavior, keeps everyone honest) and look back on last year’s goals.  Pretty much all of them are done, it’s amazing.  As you’ve no doubt often heard it said, “A Goal
